Baby Couture

Saturday, May 2, 2009

Friends often laugh when I refer to my single days as my "days of glory when I was young and powerful"... living life responsibly but as freely as possible. Now that I am a parent, life has certainly slowed downed much and any rush is brought on by need as oppose to by choice like back in my days of glory. Seems this happens to the best of us... On the cover of Baby Couture is Chris Cornell, a musician that back is his "days of glory" was held as a rock god. Yes, people THIS is what parenthood does to you!... And yes, this change is good. To view this issue of Baby Couture click here. Now seriously how cute are his kids!!!

Win $20,000 to Put Your Green Idea Into Action

SunChips and National Geographic have joined forces to create the Green Effect, an initiative to inspire individuals to spark a green movement in their communities.

YOU could be the one to make a difference in your community—for the planet! Submit a description of your Green Effect idea by June 8, 2009. Ten finalists will be announced July 7, 2009. Online viewers and a distinguished panel of judges will review these inspiring ideas.

We'll award $20,000 each to five people or groups that have the best ideas for green change. The five winners will also be profiled in National Geographic, and the winners will travel to Washington, D.C., to share their projects with environmental leaders.

Visit National Geographic for details.

ECHOage

Tuesday, April 21, 2009

A new way of celebrating a birthday party, ECHOage. This is for the socially and environmentally conscious child. Too much for a kid you think? Think again... Here's how it works: At ECHOage (online party planner) your child chooses an invitation, then a cause of his/her choice, and emails invites to guest. Guest are in turned asked for small contribution of $10-$30 (which they would spend on toys anyway). Once all contributions are collected from guests, half of the amount is sent to the charity by ECHOage and the rest is sent your child so they can get one special gift. It's never too early to teach your child the gift of giving. The pride they will feel on making a difference will be priceless I assure you! Make your next birthday party 'one gift, one cause'!

Now if you know of a great charity you can skip this altogether and send the money directly to them. However, the problem is that not everyone is comfortable asking for cash from their guest. So for those having such problem, ECHOage takes care of that!

Designing Moms

Friday, March 6, 2009

Designing Moms is a new blog contributed by Moms and Moms-to-Be's who are designers or creatives to inspire and creatively inform one another and readers. I was pretty excited when Cat Seto asked if I would be a "Designing Mom" for her blog since they are such a cool group of eclectic women. I am looking forward to the great artistic exchanges!

FYI, I got a little personal with my intro which is a rarity for me. Check it out here.

Banana Raisin Quinoa Cereal

I am so ecstatic to find the ChowMama blog!! I must confess, but the kitchen is not my forte. So finding small recipes for my son is good news to me... and to any mom as well! Their categories are broken down by age group so its easy to browse. Check them out here!

Colorstrology

Saturday, February 21, 2009

I found this fun website sometime ago and thought of it today as I looked through my Pantone book. Colorstrology by Michele Bernhardt is one of my favortie flash websites I have visited. It provides you with the pantone color of your birth month and also your unique birth pantone color. For those who work with or have in the past worked with Pantones this is a pretty neat use of them. My birth color: Apple Butter Pantone 18-1426 Hardworking ~ Theorist ~ Philosopher ... I have to agree. Have fun!

For those who just can't get enough of Pantone you can find their Fall and Spring 2009 color reports here:

Web Design?!?

Tuesday, January 20, 2009

It feels like I've been gone forever... I've been very busy though working on several web sites. Prior to designing my website I was completely clueless how much it cost to have a website designed and developed. Seriously I don't think I would've been able to afford one. The prices to start up were somewhere between $2999 to $5000!! How can any small business startup afford this?? So I decided to use my savvy techy skills and design my own. I just recently finished redesigning my home page again. I invite all to check it out!

I couldn't help but to think about those who have found or find themselves in the same situation that I did, so I decided start my own freelance web design service. I am still putting the pages together but it should be up shortly. Indie Design Studio is an affordable alternative web design for the independent brands... feel free to contact me regarding your web needs.

Happy Inauguration Day to you all!!
